Cupcakes and Weight Loss

I want a cupcake. I really do.

Mainlining sugar into my veins is, I admit, a regrettable feat I struggle with.

Do you also struggle with sugar addiction? Do you crave sugar filled treats and drinks on a daily basis?

I know that my love/hate relationship with sugar is killing me slowly… and it’s killing you to.

Tara, my wife, understands what struggling with crippling health issues feels like; it’s not fun.

North Americans are an undernourished, overfed nation and we hold ourselves in contempt because of it. ‘FAT’ has become the enemy, when really, it’s just a natural biological response to a food excess that is supposed to keep us safe and fed during times of famine.

The first problem is that famine never arrives. The second is that our bodies are actually storing MORE fat then it was ever designed to store.

That’s right – your body is storing more fat then it wants to store!

Your body system is broken, and as a result – you now feel chubby.

The culprit: SUGAR!

Sugary treats are designed to give you an immediate hit of pleasure the moment they touches your tongue. Various studies show that white sugar is just as addictive as cocaine, both causing an euphoric effect that triggers dopamine, the chemical that controls pleasure in the brain.

You read that correctly: Research shows that both sugar and cocaine light up the same area of the brain!

White sugar is connected with obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease. It’s a ‘drug’ that has detrimental effects on our health and self-esteem, yet it is present in large quantities in almost all our food.

The average North American eats a third of a pound of sugar every day! This translates into 130 pounds of refined sugar a year!

Research shows that when a person consumes too much sugary food and drink, the liver begins to convert some of that fructose to fat. This fat can lead to an increase in LDL cholesterol that can form plaque in the arteries.

FACT: consuming too much sugar is linked to many kinds of cancers, including breast and colon cancer.

In the 80’s our society became obsessed with the idea of ‘low fat food’ – ironically, this attempt to be skinnier lead to a surge in obesity rates.

What happens when you take fat out of food? It tastes terrible! Manufactures responded to this problem by replacing fat with sugar… and we all got fatter!

Type two diabetes is on the rise and we struggle with a host of blood sugar issues.

So why don’t we just start using sugar substitutes to solve these health issues?

Aspartame (Equal or Nutrasweet), sucralose (Splenda), saccharin (Sweet n’ Low),  are all commonly used sugar substitutes – but they are just as bad, if not worse, at destroying our bodies.

Aspartame has a profound effect on mood and cognition; depressed mood, anxiety, dizziness, panic attacks, nausea, irritability, impairment of memory and concentration. The list continues with 93 other detrimental side effects of this ‘healthier’ option.

Sucralose and saccharin are linked to cancer in rodents. Experts believe that these health effects are not limited to lab animals. These synthetics add to the body’s toxic load, and as a result, the chemicals found in artificial sweeteners can cause inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Artificial sweeteners are also linked to weight gain! How ironic is that?

Researchers have laboratory evidence that the widespread use of no-calorie sweeteners may actually make it harder for people to control their food intake and body weight. Rats fed a diet of foods containing artificial sweeteners gained more weight than rats given sugary food!

The truth is that artificial sweeteners are deadly deception.

So what’s the solution?

I want to introduce you to my favorite product of all time: The Tasty Pink Drink. Balancing blood sugar with all-natural supplements will help you lose weight and help you kick your sugar cravings for good.

This product saved my life… and I don’t crave cupcakes quite so often. J
